Up up & away at the Spiedie Fest Balloon Rally

Here’s a heads up for Binghamton area residents– you’ll be able to see Nikita Indoor Outdoor Convertible Furniture at the 26th Annual Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally,  August 6, 7 and 8.  We’re excited to make our first Spiedie Fest appearance among local crafters and we think you’ll be excited to see our convertible furniture demonstration and maybe even take home a Freedom Frame Convertible Sofabed. Stop by our booth and ask for our Spiedie Fest Discount Coupon to save when you visit our Oneonta, NY showroom (7 Elm Street, Oneonta, NY 607 267 4623).

Travelling downstate, we’re looking forward to taking part in the 22nd Annual Hudson Valley Garlic Festival, September 25th & 26th. Stop by and see our garlic themed sofabed, a work of art.

***NOTE FROM THE GARLIC FESTIVAL:  I went in search of a cup of coffee ( declined the garlic sugar) and returned to find a gathering of friends at our booth. All had just enjoyed a garlic dish of one kind or another …hot dogs with garlic relish, soup with garlic croutons, salad with garlic dressing, raviolis with melted garlic butter and yes, garlic icecream… so friends sit close together and enjoy each other’s company …

More to come,

Joanne demonstrates Nikita Indoor Outdoor Furniture at the Round Barn Farmer's Market in 2009

Students at SUNY Oneonta try out sustainable furniture: the Nikita Freedom Frame Sofabed.

Exchange students--one from as far away as Japan--try the Nikita sofa. Their next stop to work: Mozambique.

Had an enlightening time on Saturday at Earth Festival 2010 where I was showing Nikita Indoor Outdoor convertible furniture. My “just lean back” demonstration of how EASY the Nikita Freedom style sofa reclines from sofa to bed and back again wowed a small crowd.  I was a one person infomercial, wheeling the furniture around, gently leaning back and reclining the sofa to bed position while relating facts about the wood, design,  and structure.

People seemed genuinely surprised at the affordability of our Freedom Frame Futon Sofabed. Naturally, everyone present for Earth Day seminars appreciated Nikita’s commitment to sustainability, and that Nikita furniture frames are locally made here in upstate New York.

Demonstrating Nikita Indoor Outdoor Furniture’s design, comfort and convertible  features seems to be key to educating and energizing our market. We’re taking our furniture out to the people, and you’ll find us at farmers’ markets,  homeshows  and craft shows.

Next stop is Earth Day at SUNY Oneonta and then the SUNY Oneonta / Hartwick College OH Fest on April 24, Stop by and give us a holler at our 7 Elm Street, Oneonta NY store next to Mama Nina’s Pizzeria.

We’ll keep you posted on our schedule as we add events,

postheadericon Nikita Indoor Outdoor to be at Earth Festival 2010

Nikita Indoor Outdoor convertible furniture is happy to announce we’ll be taking part in the Otsego County Conservation Assoc. and Wildlife Learning Co. Earth Festival 2010 on Saturday, April 10 at Milford Central School.

Earth Festival 2010 offers a variety of interactive, environmental education opportunities and seminars ($10 pre-registration for any/all seminars) on topics pertaining to Renewable Energy, Green Home Renovation, Zero Waste/Local Solid Waste and Natural Gas Drilling.

Nikita will be part of the Vendor Fair/Earth Festival Exhibits from 11am to 3pm.  Admission is free to these exhibits, where you’ll find children’s activities, special recycling collection and at our space, an opportunity to “just lean back” and try our convertible sofabed or chaise.

How does leaning back in our sofabed fit with Earth Day? Nikita Indoor Outdoor furniture is locally made right here in Otsego County, upstate NY. We embrace the environmental concepts of sustainability, renewability and zero waste in production.

Nikita Convertibles are made of 100% solid hardwood, itself a renewable resource. The wood is clear, beautiful and naturally strong.  All the wood we use comes from an FSC Certified Mill and is FSC controlled.

Our system by which we produce our furniture is a study in hyper-efficiency. All the less than perfect pieces of wood that do not “make the cut” are burned in our energy efficient wood stove, keeping us warm throughout the long upstate New York winter. The wood shavings are given to local farmers for animal bedding. That leaves nothing behind except beautiful solid hardwood furniture that is built to serve a lifetime.

So you will feel good relaxing in our furniture as you celebrate Earth Day and every day, for that matter.

See you in Milford on April 10,
