See us at the Great Northeast Home Show in Albany, at the Times Union Center, February 11,12,13. It may still look like this outside… but it’ll be warm inside… and so much to see!

At the close of the Saratoga Springs Victorian Streetwalk, harpist Karlinda Caldicott drew the name of one lucky person who will be having a relaxing holiday this year — for they have won a twin size Freedom Chaise package — frame, mattress and slip cover— from Nikita Indoor Outdoor Convertibles. Daniel Brudos of Schenectady was the lucky winner (pictured left on the showroom chaise).

Mahogany Scandia Chairs grace the green Showcase Home
Nikita Indoor Outdoor Convertible Furniture will be participating in the SARATOGA SHOWCASE OF HOMES this fall. We will be furnishing the “outdoor den” and multi-level decks of the only ALL-GREEN home, designed and built by Sustainable Designs of Saratoga Springs. This is a great honor for us and, I think, an opportunity for our customers and visitors to see our cool convertibles in a real home setting.
The showcase home address is: 3 Larkspur Court, off of Locust Grove in Greenfield Center.
3 WEEKENDS: DATES: 11 am to 5 pm, September 18,19 25,26 October 2,3
Members of our Saratoga Springs Showroom staff will be on location at the Showcase Home to demonstrate our furniture and to answer any questions. And on Saturday, September 25, Nikita himself will be at the Showcase Home.

Joanne in June at New York City Craft Fair Lincoln Center
I love this picture ... I think you can feel the heat of the noon day sun... it was very hot that weekend... so we were very glad to be by the cool, refreshing water.
We were fortunate enough to have “waterfront property” at the NYC Craft Fair at Lincoln Center on June 19 and 20. It was an incredibly hot 2 days – and yet our booth stayed relatively comfortable. We kept the back of the tent off so that we could feel the cool breezes wafting up from the water. It really was very lovely. It felt like a vacation spot. People kept stopping in to sit down and lean back on our Nikita Scandia Chair – they would always comment on what a fabulous spot we have – by the cool water, with the amazing sculpture and the Julliard School beyond.
BTW – somebody bought the chair.

***NOTE FROM THE GARLIC FESTIVAL: I went in search of a cup of coffee ( declined the garlic sugar) and returned to find a gathering of friends at our booth. All had just enjoyed a garlic dish of one kind or another …hot dogs with garlic relish, soup with garlic croutons, salad with garlic dressing, raviolis with melted garlic butter and yes, garlic icecream… so friends sit close together and enjoy each other’s company …

Nikita Indoor Outdoor Furniture on the road again
Summer is creeping up on us, and now is the time to order those convertible sofabeds for home and “camp” to ensure they are ready for vacation season guests. Since our sofabeds, chaise lounges and chairs are custom made according to your choices of wood, finish, futon type and slip cover, we ask for 3-4 weeks lead time. (If you’re in a pinch, we sell items from our showroom floors.)
In this merry, merry month of May, we’ll be visiting upstate (Delaware County, Walton Fairgrounds) and downstate (Woodstock, New Paltz) New York demonstrating our “Just Lean Back” convertible furniture. Hope to see you at the following home/craft shows where we’ll be ready to take your orders.

Musing on NY festivals, farmers’ markets & furniture

Had an enlightening time on Saturday at Earth Festival 2010 where I was showing Nikita Indoor Outdoor convertible furniture. My “just lean back” demonstration of how EASY the Nikita Freedom style sofa reclines from sofa to bed and back again wowed a small crowd. I was a one person infomercial, wheeling the furniture around, gently leaning back and reclining the sofa to bed position while relating facts about the wood, design, and structure.
People seemed genuinely surprised at the affordability of our Freedom Frame Futon Sofabed. Naturally, everyone present for Earth Day seminars appreciated Nikita’s commitment to sustainability, and that Nikita furniture frames are locally made here in upstate New York.
Demonstrating Nikita Indoor Outdoor Furniture’s design, comfort and convertible features seems to be key to educating and energizing our market. We’re taking our furniture out to the people, and you’ll find us at farmers’ markets, homeshows and craft shows.
Next stop is Earth Day at SUNY Oneonta and then the SUNY Oneonta / Hartwick College OH Fest on April 24, Stop by and give us a holler at our 7 Elm Street, Oneonta NY store next to Mama Nina’s Pizzeria.
