postheadericon Training your luxurious futon mattress to bend

Futons have evolved in thickness and plushness, whether they be a firm wool wrap or soft touch or visco coil. How do these mattresses of 8 inches or more adapt to dual duty for couches and sleeping? Joanne demonstrates a solution to breaking in a visco coil mattress so it easily converts from bed to couch. Enjoy this Youtube Nikita video.

postheadericon Meet Yuliya, Sales Associate at Nikita Indoor Outdoor Saratoga Springs this summer

Yuliya relaxes on a cot size chaise longue, ash with expresso finish, fabric pattern: spree.

Stop by and say hi to Yuliya, our new Sales Associate at the Nikita Indoor Outdoor Convertibles showroom, 508 Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Yuliya attends Fashion Insititute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, has achieved an Associates Degree in Interior Design and is working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.

Here’s what Yuliya has to say about Nikita Convertibles:

I came home for the summer and looked around for a job in my field of interest and was intrigued by Nikita furnishings. I’ve never seen anything like this convertible furniture design even in New York City, where you can usually find anything. Convertible furniture fills so many needs, I was immediately taken with its versatility and surprised to find it right here in Saratoga Springs.

Yuliya is happy to put her knowledge and experience to work to answer any furniture questions or help you with design decisions.

Speaking of New York City, our next road appearance will be at the American Crafts Festival at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on the weekend of June 19-20, 2010. Hours are noon to 9:00 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 9pm on Sunday. Hope 2010 graduates who are moving to their first homes or apartments, and those seeking contemporary modern furniture and space saving solutions for indoor and outdoor living spaces will stop by and lean back and experience comfortably designed sofabeds, loveseats, chairs and chaise longues. postheadericon Case environment #12 Furniture for the man cave

Where’s your man cave?*

By “man cave” I mean that specially equipped male sanctuary where you kick off dust from a stressful day and relax, take a step back to reflect and do what you enjoy. Is it the spare bedroom that’s your personal sports shrine, paying homage to  favorite teams, players or housing your own trophies? Or a media room where you kick back and kick butt in virtual video game worlds? Perhaps you venture outdoors  and seek solace in a deck or garden environment. Or you’ve created a separate garage or shop building to pursue hobbies and play.

Nikita Indoor Outdoor creates affordable custom convertibles for every environment and the man cave is no exception.  Indoors or outdoors, we’ve got what you need to just lean back and unwind. If your room does double duty as an overnight guest bedroom, our sofas, loveseats and chairs fit together as double, queen or king beds. Our furniture boldly (and easily) moves where you go–it’s on wheels. Of course we can’t leave man’s best friend out of the picture; you may customize your furniture to be pet friendly by choosing washable slip covers or a waterproof underlining.

To celebrate the opening of our Saratoga Springs store, Nikita Indoor Outdoor is giving away a chaise lounge (converts to twin bed) to one lucky person in September 2010. It would be a great addition to den or mancave.

To enter the give-away, stop by either of our store locations: 508 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (518)796-1887 (closest to the Albany area) or 7 Elm Street, Oneonta, NY (607)267-4623 (serving Norwich, Binghamton and upstate NY towns & hamlets in between) for a demo and see our furniture in action. All you will have to do is “just lean back.”

PS We’d love seeing and posting mancave pics: e-mail them to mary@JustLeanBack.com  Let’s have fun with this and see what you come up with!

postheadericon Nikita Indoor Outdoor to be at Earth Festival 2010

Nikita Indoor Outdoor convertible furniture is happy to announce we’ll be taking part in the Otsego County Conservation Assoc. and Wildlife Learning Co. Earth Festival 2010 on Saturday, April 10 at Milford Central School.

Earth Festival 2010 offers a variety of interactive, environmental education opportunities and seminars ($10 pre-registration for any/all seminars) on topics pertaining to Renewable Energy, Green Home Renovation, Zero Waste/Local Solid Waste and Natural Gas Drilling.

Nikita will be part of the Vendor Fair/Earth Festival Exhibits from 11am to 3pm.  Admission is free to these exhibits, where you’ll find children’s activities, special recycling collection and at our space, an opportunity to “just lean back” and try our convertible sofabed or chaise.

How does leaning back in our sofabed fit with Earth Day? Nikita Indoor Outdoor furniture is locally made right here in Otsego County, upstate NY. We embrace the environmental concepts of sustainability, renewability and zero waste in production.

Nikita Convertibles are made of 100% solid hardwood, itself a renewable resource. The wood is clear, beautiful and naturally strong.  All the wood we use comes from an FSC Certified Mill and is FSC controlled.

Our system by which we produce our furniture is a study in hyper-efficiency. All the less than perfect pieces of wood that do not “make the cut” are burned in our energy efficient wood stove, keeping us warm throughout the long upstate New York winter. The wood shavings are given to local farmers for animal bedding. That leaves nothing behind except beautiful solid hardwood furniture that is built to serve a lifetime.

So you will feel good relaxing in our furniture as you celebrate Earth Day and every day, for that matter.

See you in Milford on April 10,

Mary Robinson
